In this 2-hour photography experience, you will walk alongside a local professional photographer who will guide you through both the technical and creative aspects of capturing unforgettable images. Whether you are just starting out with your camera or you already consider yourself an advanced photographer, this journey is designed to help you improve your skills, sharpen your eye, and discover fresh inspiration.
As we explore Oaxaca’s cobblestone streets, vibrant facades, and iconic landmarks, you will not only practice photography but also connect with the rich cultural and historical layers of the city. Each stop along the way has been carefully chosen to provide both a visual feast for your camera and a meaningful story about Oaxaca’s traditions, architecture, and identity.
You’ll gain hands-on practice with essential photography principles such as composition, light, perspective, and timing. More than just theory, this experience is about learning by doing. I will share my best tips, techniques, and secrets that I’ve gathered throughout years of professional work, so you can apply them immediately and see your results improve in real time.
But this isn’t only about photography it’s about seeing differently. You’ll learn to approach familiar scenes from new angles, noticing details and moments you might otherwise overlook. The streets of Oaxaca, with their mix of history, color, and energy, become the perfect classroom. Meet your Host, Juan Pablo Barba
Juan Pablo Barba is a passionate Mexican photographer and world traveler whose lens captures stories with both artistry and soul. His work has been featured in prestigious outlets including National Geographic, Playboy, Maxim, GQ, and Mexico Desconocido, earning him recognition for his ability to reveal beauty and authenticity in every frame.
Driven by a deep love for Mexican culture and its people, Juan is currently traveling across the country, documenting traditions, landscapes, and cultural treasures for his upcoming photobook a project that celebrates Mexico’s vibrant identity.
Now based in Oaxaca, one of the most visually stunning regions of Mexico, Juan has been immersed in photography since childhood. Over the years, he has refined his craft through countless courses and by staying at the forefront of emerging trends and techniques, ensuring his work remains both fresh and timeless.
Beyond his career behind the camera, Juan finds true joy in sharing his knowledge with others. He teaches photography to both local and international students, helping them not only master technical skills but also discover their own creative voice.
Where we'll be
We will begin our photo-walk tour on the esplanade of the famous "La Cruz de Piedra" at the Coffee store El Volador.
During the tour we will stop and take photos in important and emblematic places. You will have the opportunity to take the best photo of Oaxaca.
